clean up breadcrumbs after removal/disconnect of a work/school ms account

I have my former work laptop to keep and want to clean it up to remove everything. On their end, they did something to cancel (?) me from using Office 365 over a year ago. I haven't been using this laptop but may start using it now. Thanks to a Brink tutorial I finally found the option to DISCONNECT the work/school account. I wanted to see REMOVE or DELETE but DISCONNECT was the best I could find. I also uninstalled MS Office 365 and One Note. And I re-started the machine. However, searching through the registry I still find many instances of "myoldcompanyname.com". Too many to blindly replace without fear of screwing up something.

Oh I probably should have started at the beginning. When the laptop was first initiated ~3 years ago, I got suckered into using a MS account to activate but quickly turned it around and created a Local User account which I used the entire time. And of course I no longer have access to my email at that company.

Ideas where other work/school account info might be lurking? I've gone thru every scenario in the "how to remove" tutorials and nothing is left. I fear the breadcrumbs remain intentionally in case I want to "reconnect".

Best IMHO to back up your user profile, and do a clean install.

Then, copy the profile back, and then re-install your apps.

Carifred has a nice free tool PCData Back that will do the user profile work for you.

That machine may also have a Windows 11 Volume License, which you would need to purchase a Retail License to replace.

It's likely got a Pro licence attached to the UEFI so no need to buy anything.

I would suggest just making a Win 11 ISO boot USB and resinstalling Windows from scratch to get rid of everything corp related.

Since it was a "work laptop", it could be Pro under a Volume License.

Easy to find out using the Store app ShowKeyPlus.

Or just look for the sticker on the underside of the laptop.

Absolutely clean install only option to be considered

I find it irresponsible that any corporate organisation should release a device without wiping and clean install before release.
