Thia is a discontinued program which has so far defied removal, even after trying several methods to do so posted on the Internet.

Short of my using my 10-lb sledge hammer, any assistance in removing this program which insists on constantly posting an error message would be appreciated.

Drat, the icon is back, although no error message as of now. I cannot tell if the uninstaller actually does anything: I accept the terms and click on what I would expect to have something appear, but although I have tried this three or four times, I have never seen anything happening. Sigh.

You may have to delete the Folders or Files in > Program Files > Program Files (x86) > ProgramData > Users/*/AppData/Local > Windows/System32 > Windows/Syswow64 .....
What does the error Message say??

Try running that comodo uninstaller in safe mode and as an admin (right click run as admin)

That is not one I remember seeing, thanks. It may have worked: I clicked on it, which did not seem to do anything, but the nuisance tast bar icon and pop-up error message have not appeared for perhaps fifteen or more minutes. Granted that is not long, but I don't recall that it took even that long for the taskbar icon to reappear after I had removed it.

One real oddity: As soon as I had downloaded the file, before I ran it, there was a popup about moving files which I did not comprehend and got rid of it.

That looks to me to be an impossible link, but Users/AppData did; however I did not find any reference to Windows there. Everything, the computer search engine says that it is in C:\Windows, but I don't see it. All very strange to me.

Ought I consider an in-place reinstall of 23H2, assuming that I can find such?

KYHI apparently meant you might have to delete leftover folders or files in each of these folders:
Program Files
Program Files (x86)
Program Data
Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local
Windows\System32
and
Windows\SysWOW64

I wouldn't mess with SysWOW64. I think if you clean up the files and folders you can identify as Comodo in those other folders (and my guess is that you won't find any to clean up now that you've run that Cleanup app), SysWOW64 will take care of itself.

Yeah, I couldn't find them either.

Download and install the latest version, restart, then try to uninstall.

Ah, a translation, the type of thing I recognize from one one of backgrounds as a Medieval Historian. Appreciated.

1. File in Program Files requires permission from System to be removed, whatever that means.

2. Folder removed from Program Files (x86)

3. Cannot be removed from Program Data as it is open in the Comodo program.

4. Removed from \AppData\Local

5. Not found in System32.

6. Found, but ignored SysWOW32..

As to how part of the original message being quoted reappeared below my reply is unknown; I deleted the text.

You can get the Take Ownership context menu addition here on ElevenForum. The just right-click that file (not the Program Files folder), choose Take Ownership, and delete that file.

Even with the Take Ownership option, any attempt to remove the program fails with the error that it is open in another program. I don't recall that being the same text as previous attempts. I wonder what other program might be involved but at any rate, I still cannot remove the culprit.

And have you opened Task Manager and looked at the Processes tab and the Startup tab to see whether you can find the process that's running?

A very valuable piece of software is Process Explorer from Sysinternals. It will show you every process running on your machine, and a right click on anything Comodo will let you Kill That Task.

Find out what files, registry keys and other objects processes have open, which DLLs they have loaded, and more.

Well, I sort of found the culprit: I opened the Comodo folder that won't go away, inside of which I found some further folders and lots of data, but the folders and the first entry cannot be deleted as they are in Comodo Internet Security Helper Service, which even Everything cannot find.

I surrendered at that point.

Well, before surrendering, you might try TairikuOkami's suggestion in #12 above. Maybe get a copy of Revo Uninstaller Portable (Free) and then when you've installed the new Comodo, use Revo to completely uninstall it. Tick the box that says "automatically clean up all leftovers" after you select the name of the Comodo app and click UNINSTALL.

I was surprised to see the program offered in some popup today, given that as far as I could determine, it had in effect been discontinued. I've downloaded it, shall install same, then see if AShampoo will delete it; if not, I'll install Revo, give that a try.
