Solved Concurrently active esims!! Almost nobody in Europe has heard of them !!

Hi folks
Why are esims so relatively unknown in Europe -- on a new Ultra S26 ultra I selected esim option -- no need to mess about with physical sims etc so I had already installed one for my standard provider . Note -- -you can have up to 7 on a typical phone with the later phones having 2 concurrently active - which means that you don't need 2 phones etc for business / junk calls and your private one.

I was in a UK Vodafone physical store recently and had to explain to the assistant there what these were and how to install !!! --

I just needed a basic UK account for a while -- didn't need a load of "bells and whistles" and got a decent deal at £3.00 a month for a few months -- with concurrent active esims no problem having to change providers etc - and either phone number / apps etc work perfectly. Seems the obvious way to go -

If in a different country this seems the obvious way to do this - get a cheap basic esim for the time you are in that country and simply use the esim / sim manager on the phone. iPhones even easier than android ones !! but any samsung phone even as far back as S20 ultra have this facility. I love the concurrent option which saves using 2 phones etc !!!!

Note though when installing you need a 2nd device to scan the QR code on your phone you want to install the esim on !!!. You might need the initial activation code on your phone (only for the ist esim / initial one so don't forget it !!!!). Adding further esims doesn't require this.

I'll be honest, I hadn't heard of them on my old phone as it had a SIM card. My recent S26+ uses eSIM only though.

eSIM requires a phone at cost, which starts at $250. Most smartphones start at $100, it can do everything $1500 phone can.
I prefer eSIM, because it prevents simjacking and other attacks! My current phone has everything for $250, including eSIM.
Generally people in Europe do not like a digital ID, digital cash, digital anything, thus GDPR.

Another nice feature with concurrently active esims (2 on Android s26 ultra) is that each esim you can set your phone up for different language and keyboard and to switch it's simply quicker and easier just to switch esims rather than go into the various phone settings for changing all these bits / app language etc etc.
