Constant crashes when System gets busy

Dear gentlepeople,

I hope someone can help me solving this. I had 6 crashes today, but this is way above average. Anyway, I have obviously a problem. A possible reason might be insufficient power (Im gussing here as a layman), because systempower-calculators suggest to me 500-600Watts, while my (years old) PSU has a max of 550 (Be quiet 11). I bought some new components recently (new GPU (RTX3060 instead of 1070ti), 32GB Ram instead of 16, a new 8TB-HD instead of my old 4TB, and a bigger SSD for my system (2TB M.2 instead of 500GB normal SSD)) and I have that problem ever since. Before that everything was okay. The crashes occur when I do heavy lifting stuff, which always involves graphics, like e.g. playing games or the occasional Stable Diffusion. If someone wants me to test other parts of the system and suggest software, I will let it run for a night. But I already tested the RAM without results and the SSD and HD... well they are working. I dont do overclocking.

You'll find my V2log attached. I restored a systembackup today, but the problem remained. But that is the reason why I have only 2 minidumps in the zipfile. If necessary, I will wait a bit to gather more information. I'm playing a game right now and I guess I might have a couple more minidumps tomorrow if needed ;)

Yeah. Sucks. But before I start buying more stuff, like a new PSU, I thought I check up on your opinions.

@Samun

I would definitely get a bigger power supply... 650w minimum.
I run a 750w in my system.

I guess there is no way around that, but is this the reason for the crashes? I noticed they often have different reasons according to the blue screen and I would like to exclude hardware damage. After all they are new components.

The system backup I played back today was a fresh installment. So software problems due to faulty drivers are possible of course, but less likely.

Could be. But it could be something else.
You need to wait till @zbook analyzes the logs.

Personally, I always go a bit overkill on the power supply.
Power supplies seem to work better and last longer if they are approx. 200W over the bare minimum you need.

1) Please post a new V2 share link using English as the default language so that files can be scanned an read:

2) Run Tuneup plus > post a share link

3) Create a new restore point:

Okay, I switched my system to english (sorry for that, everything I do is in english, windows is literally the only german-remaining part here, I did not think of it as german). Some parts of the log-files still remain in german though.

But I have to ask. I did now do all those many, many bat-files. And sometimes I thought "hey, isn't that already in the collection of v2-log collector? I'm pretty sure some of it was at least doubly done. The same for the Tuneup-plus. I did not the plus and the two Tuneup1+2.

Im sorry if I don't meet all the "how to post"-standards. My vision is blurry after going through all those entries and I need a vacation.

-

Some remarks:

There were no kernel dumpfiles. Do I need to activate this feature somehow? (Just restored a backup from a fresh install yesterday, so it might not be a miracle that there is nothing)

Get Powercfg_info did not work. The blue window told me that a zip-file was created, but it wasn't. The content of that zip-file was in the named location, but not as a zip-file.

No upgrade_failure_info was created, I guess there was none?

No SFC-Entries found.

Tuneup2 had errors (see log). A reboot did not solve the issue.

Please perform the following steps:

1) Add WMIC

DISM /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:WMIC~~~~

2) Rerun only Tuneup plus > post a share link

3) Create a new restore point:

4) Run Memtest86+ for 8 or more passes > take pictures > post images or share links

Memtest86+ | The Open-Source Memory Testing Tool

Just 1 error is a test fail and testing can be aborted.

The more the passes the better the testing conditions.

It sometimes takes passes into the 20's to detect malfunctioning RAM.

The RAM can be tested all at one time or one at a time in the same DIMM.

Memtest86+ | The Open-Source Memory Testing Tool

MemTest86+ - Test RAM

5) Run Sea Tools Long generic test (all drives) > post images or share links

6) Open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

chkdsk /b /v

Run these chkdsk switches on all drives using the syntax: chkdsk /b /v C: or chkdsk /b /v D: or chkdsk /b /v E: etc.

Make sure that the windows drive runs overnight while sleeping.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk /b /v
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

Type: Y

Reboot as needed.

7) After completing all chkdsk /b /v run:

https://www.tenforums.com/attachmen...-files-use-bsod-debugging-chkdskfromevent.bat

Batch files for use in BSOD debugging - Windows 10 Help Forums

Batch files for use in BSOD debugging - Windows 10 Help Forums

Make sure that this runs only after the prior three steps for each drive.

8) Run HD Sentinel (all drives) > post images or share links (do not run until posting results for each steps 5, 6, and 7 )

Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring
a) Overview
b) Temperature
c) SMART

9) These steps / tests can be performed overnight while sleeping:
a) Memtest86+
b) Sea Tools Long generic test
c) Chkdsk /b /v

10) At a later time view multiple active EF threads on updating secure boot

Thank you for doing this. This is so much over my head, that I will buy a new PSU first, which will take take some time because New Year. After making sure if the issue still exists or not, I will come back and either close the thread or I will continue all this.

Can you give me at least a general feeling what it could be? Any assumptions yet?

It's early in the troubleshooting.

Before purchasing a PSU please test the drive and RAM.

There may be additional tests pending these results.

When available please post a new Tuneup plus after adding WMIC.

Hey Guys,

took some time for vacation, buying and testing. No, I bought a new PSU right away, needed it anyway or will at some point ( be quiet Pure Power 13M 850Watts). And I have a good new ammount of information.

The Situation now is this:

I can reproduce the crash by either using Stable Diffusion or by playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (also other hardware-intense games). Between 1-2h the PC will crash with the same error message.

- Win10, with all hardware-components built in, is stable (yay!) - or at least it seems that way, each day more makes me more certain
- Win11 is unstable, I removed and replaced all possible hardware components over time, its always unstable. It is unstable even on a fresh installment (done this morning, Win11 Pro, 10.0.26200; (Secure Boot was deactivated, just mentioning since its a requirement according to MS). I added to the fresh installment only the recent Windows Updates, some MSI-Driver that popped up on my screen (not sure what for exactly) and the GPU Drivers (old ones removed with DDU in Safemode). Oh yes, I used oobe\bypassNRO (could try it without but would rather not). Did not change anything else but set monitors to 120 hertz and 200% iconsize.

RAM: 2x 16MB DDR4, not scanned for errors. Removed each one of them and left the other -> Crash; Removed both and tried older ones (that gave never errors) -> Crash.
With my one HDD and one M.2, -> Crash, without them -> Crash. Win11 on my old (working) SSD -> Crash, Win10 on the same SSD -> no crash.
With my Geforce RTX 3060 -> Crash, with my old 1070 ti -> Crash. Both with their own newest drivers, while old one removed with DDU in Safemode
Yeah, why testing when you can conveniently just remove them ;)

I am at the end of my ideas what to test for right now. As a layman... that smells like a Win11 driver problem for either my Mainboard or my CPU, because everything else was removed or replaced and the problem persisted.

Anyway, what of those points above do you want me to still do now, zbook?

Why do I need to do the drives? As I said, the problem persists on different drives as a system drive. And I can remove all the other drives. I can run the whole Windows11 on just one SSD without the others.

I won't do Step 3 (restore point) because I use another form of backup (AOMEI) and I cannot take a picture of a memtest, I don't have a smartphone. :/

So, I understand 1,2 and to some degree 4.

Looking at the two crash dumps, both concern the same bugcheck, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. However, in one, the problem occurred with the PpmEstimateIdleDuration function, which estimates how long the CPU must remain idle. In the other, the problem occurred with the MiReplenishPageSlist function, which likely refreshes page lists (related to RAM). Could you provide the MEMORY.DMP file? Maybe we can get more information from it?

I made a great deal of progress. I found out (embarassingly) that my Bios was not uptodate and I also installed chipset drivers anew. One of those appearantly solved this issue. Then the PC suddenly rebootet without message and without minidump, but system events that point now to the RAM or the CPU. In any case, it seems to be another contruction site and I am on to it.

So, thanks for all the effort. This can be closed for now.
