It may be overkill (or maybe not) to run Active Directory for my home LAN of 3 active and 2 inactive Windows systems, in effect a Windows Domain for my Workgroup?

If AD is available, can Exchange be far behind? :coffee: SharePoint Server (drool)?:cool: SQL Server? Visual Studio Enterprise? :D Did I leave anything out?

So, Gridcraft, here are your next set of challengers.

Active directory, and therefore domains and all related functions, require Windows Server editions (and its corresponding licenses), do you have some of those?
Besides, for a home network, I don't see that much of a benefit other than experimentation.

But a quick Google for Gridcraft shows an Excel clone, not anything AD related. What are you talking about exactly?

Exchange and SharePoint likewise, they're proprietary servers with an hefty price tag, don't think you would want those on your home.
SQL Server has an Express edition and a Developer one for free, so it's doable right now.
Why Visual Studio Enterprise? Why Communitiy doesn't suffices you?
