Solved CPU overheating with AIO 240mm cooler

I was playing Delta Force on all low settings. ( not sure if that matters ) but to keep that short.. that is what I was playing when I took a photo of my temps. how much of a performance drop are we expecting if I decide to go that route of lowering the maximum power limits and etc.. ? EDIT: I'm going to check the pump speed and get back to you on this.
Connect the pump cable to the pump header on your motherboard. That'd cause it to run at full speed, all the time.

That is a high-performance CPU with a significant power demand and heat generation. Your 240 AIO may not be enough.

I have 360mm and here's how mine looks while in the 2nd pass of video conversion:

Screenshot 2024-12-14 155227.webp

Screenshot 2025-01-02 064100.webp

I try to keep it under 80 degrees but all my ratio offsets were deleted and I haven't bothered to do all the work again.

You may want to check into one of these Amazon.com

There is a youtube video somewhere showing a big difference in contact between the cpu and heatsink with contact plate. It's possible only half your cpu is in contact with the heatsink if you're not using the plate.

You also might try undervolting the CPU to lower the peak temps. Go into the Bios and set a negative offset.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
Agreeing with I think Bob's opinion that if it stops at ~ 80, you're fine. Mine does that when I'm processing for vlog. 2 things: thermal paste: I use arctic silver 5 but I think MX-6 might be slightly better so I got a tube for my next re-do. Also I used to use way too much and found all I need is a 1mm wide bead down the center, length-wise. Of course YMMV. Opinions also very!!! :) Actually very little difference between the best thermal pastes. Good YT vid compared a bunch. Yes, I wish you'd got a 360, and sometime you might want to pick one up. i picked thermalright V4 (amazon) because they were cheap and highly rated (again, YT), and it has not disappointed. The 13's and 14's(very little difference) i9's run hot. Your BIOS is apparently current so that's not a prob and I don't think you will hurt your 14900 with that aio. EDIT: yeah, I use the anti-bend plate.

I did that but it's not enough when all cores are maxed and I don't want it running unnecessarily slow when all cores are not maxed, so I set a scheme to reduce the multiplier at 2 different temp thresholds with intel's extreme tuning utility.

If a core hits 80 then it's reduced by 0.8ghz until it falls back under 80. If it continues to climb to 85 then it's reduced by another 0.6ghz.
