Possibly could get away with repasting and reseating the stock cooler, but they arent great . It is cheap to replace with something better and quieter.
Sixteen quid for cooler and twelve quid for ram. Worth doing. He might have to buy a bit of paste as well.
Dont throw the stock cooler away. If you pass that machine to someone in a couple of years you can put the stock cooler back on ( properly seated obviously)
That way you can transfer the thermalright cooler to another machine. It fits 115x/1200/1700/am4/am5
