Crash then Nothing...

Hi,

My mouse and keyboard turned off then my keyboard turned back on, but nothing worked (pressed ctrl+alt+del on keyboard did nothing or moving the mouse) I turned my PC off and back on but the HDMI didn't work it said no signal, I tried putting it in the on-board HDMI and got nothing. I then tried putting in cable in my displayPort which worked on my graphics card but not on the on-board one.

Does it sound like my PC is dying on me?

I would try hooking everything back up the way it was... turning the computer OFF, then re-seating the RAM.
The RAM may not need re-seated, but it's the 1st thing you should check.

Tried this still, only the graphics card DisplayPort works and I've tried two HDMI cables in both the 1 on the graphics card and the on-board HDMI port neither work. I find it strange that the Display port and the HDMI ports don't work on my motherboard, as I've never used them I've only used my HDMI port on my graphics card.

It's difficult to tell. I just saw your most recent post about the onboard HDMI ports and display port not working. How old is your motherboard?

That's not old. Perhaps the HDMI and display ports are controlled in the bios? But that wouldn't explain the video card issues. Did you remove and reseat the video card?

Yes, also that would not cause the motherboard HDMI or displayPort to not work would it?

I don't think so. Long shot, but did you check the bios to see if those are controlled there?

I read the CPU i use does not have integrated graphics with it, so the motherboard HDMI and displayports wont work will they? so it sounds as if they graphics card is dying?

Yes, no iGPU on the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X. I don't suppose you have another older graphics card to try?

No, the motherboard HDMI and display ports won't work from what I've read.
So, your video card may be on its last leg. Have you inserted the video card into a different motherboard slot? That probably won't make a difference, but it's worth eliminating that option. Updated the GPU drivers?

I did a search on your video card and the issues you're having, and it seems that it's pretty common for the HDMI ports to malfunction on that particular card regardless of who produced it. Here's one page: 5700 XT HDMI not working.

If the video card is dying, prices of cards have finally dropped to the recommended retail price. The card I have costs almost half of what I paid for it. I know purchasing a new card probably was not in your plan of things to do, but at least there's the price drop.

If the display port works, the problem can definitely be the hdmi output off the gpu but keep in mind, it could be the hdmi input port on the monitor or a bad cable just as easily. I would eliminate both of those being the problem before investing big bucks in a new gpu.
