I'm simply overwhelmed by the choices and variety of icons.

Simple question. what if I just want to add one or two text characters to an existing icon? Any special considerations?

indeed, there are quite a few creators here, and some of them made huge collections.
Congrats to them.
I made my part, not that much, it was quite difficult at my level, but still useful for me and others in many ways.

Adding 2 text characters onto a folder is possible, but takes time to reach the best quality possible.
There are 8 different images as there are 8 sizes to display depending on where there are shown and how you set your size preferences.

I had to do that trick with Synology for the small sizes, but this is real customized folder.
For basic or existing folders, you can try to use IcoFX (portable), create text with transparency in a separate project, select and resize it to paste it on each folder of different sizes. It's not that easy, you need to be tricky and have a bit of time for the job.

The result is not perfect but at least i tried.

Those are such dazzling folders for Windows 11 created in high grade quality. I thank you all so much for participating in the creativity of those folders. Keep making more cool folders for Windows 11, making sure that you include all the icon previews in each resolution thumbnails. Thoroughly check all the embedded folder previews within your folder icons to make sure that there are no thumbnail previews missing or visual errors such as backgrounds showing or missing icons in front of folder previews, such as the Favorites icon. Thanks again for all those great folder creativities that Microsoft should have added into Windows 11 itself.

i have installed but its not changing the folder instantly like it should. The change appear in the explorer after restart

To fix this, I just released an update featuring a 'Rebuild Icon Cache' tool (similar to Wintoys). You can find it in the latest version of the app. Once you click it, it will force Windows to refresh all icons and clear the old cache, so your changes should appear instantly without needing a full system restart.
