Solved (D:) disk missing from Windows 11

Hello, would anyone have experienced (D:) disk disappearing from their computer? When I go to Disk Management I can only see my (c:) as disk 1.
I tried to allocate disk 0 but it keeps giving me an error message (the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
I tried to Action>refresh But nothing changes.

Have you right clicked on the D: drive and given it a drive letter?

Get Minitool Partition Wizard (free), install it. Open the program and take a screen shot of the program, and post it here.

When i did try to initialize in disk mgmt it said error (the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.)

Check Device Manager > Disk Drives, for any yellow "warning" icons.

If Device Manager is OK, then open Minitool again, and right click the bad disk and see if it will let you run a "Surface Test".

Is the Seagate drive internal or external.
Is it new?
What is it's history? Did you just get it? Was it new or used?
Did it come with the computer?


I'm guessing that it's internal, and new?

So this computer just came with the drives, i didnt do anything special, i didnt add any hard drives or anything.
When originally i got this computer about a year ago, it had (C:) and (D:).
I know I didnt delete it or anything. I had saved games like sims4 on there and my work data. When i tried to access it today i noticed it was just gone.

Would it let you run a "Surface Test" in Minitool partition Wizard?
Just right click the "bad disk" and choose: Surface Test ...then click Start Now

no it wont do anything when i right click on the bad disk one. When i try to right click the other disk thats working it does give me options to do that..

Then post a screen shot of CrystalDiskInfo

As the HDD is a Seagate, you could try their Seatools utilities. That may tell you whether the drive has failed.

I admit that I don't know whether it can be run on an unallocated drive.
