Dead Mouse On Arrival

I agree with @Dru2. I use a wired keyboard (usb2), but my Logitech wireless mouse dongle has never worked correctly unless it is in a usb2 port. I found this article that might be the explanation. How to Avoid the USB3.0 and 2.4 GHz Devices Interference?

I have a few Notebooks, mostly older, and only 2 require a USB dongle that comes with the mouse, the rest all use Bluetooth mice. Bluetooth is a short range wireless and usually is part of the Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter although there are dongles available to get the feature.,

How does one know when this CMOS battery needs replacing? I have replaced them in the past on XP and even Win 7 machines, just as a precautionary measure, and didn't notice anything not working once I turned it back on. Win 11 has me concerned. One of my machines had to be converted from MBR to GPT in order to install and run Win 11. Would changing that battery revert it to MBR?

One obvious telltale sign is the clock. If you're losing time, or the date is constantly wrong or set to 2000. That's a clear indication the CMOS battery is dead/dying.

From my experience using Logitech wireless mice and keyboards for years it sometimes distance between hardware and Unifying receiver and also interference can cause issues. Also always make sure have most up to date software.

Thank you for that. The distance can't be a problem for me because both the mouse and keyboard are within 10 inches of the receiver. However, there are 4 other computers in close proximity to this one, all using wireless Logitech mice and keyboards. But that has never cause any problem in all the years I have had this computer room set up, (20 plus years.) Of course 20 some years ago some of the devices were using cables, not WiFi or whatever it is that connects them now. But even those WiFi connected devices never caused a problem for at least the last 8 to 10 years. Maybe the new drivers are doing it now but even so, I do try to keep them up to date.

Your welcome. Logitech known be bit quirky with driver issues sometimes.

Sometimes other radio interference from the system itself (Bluetooth, wi-fi wireless, etc) can cause the Dongle xmt/rcv to act funky. I had that issue a long while back and solved it for about $5. Get an extension for the dongle and tape it under your desk away from other electronics.

Logi/Logitech has some keyboards and mice with the Unifying connectivity, might be an issue with having a number of device in close proximity. Most times losing the USB dongle meant throwing the mouse or keyboard away as they are/were frequency-coded.

Thank you for that suggestion. Actually I already have those USK extension cables. If I have the same problem in the future I'll remember to try this.
