The Defender GUI on my desktop PC often fails to load on first opening and shows a blank window. It eventually appears after several attempts or logging off/on. I've reset the Windows Security app. Is this a known bug and is there a fix?

He said he'd done that.
Duh! Brain lock. :boom::cool:

@Steve C - have you run the usual DISM and SFC scans? The other option is a repair install via System > Recovery, which is fairly painless.

Yes done that. It's only an irritation so not worth a repair install since the Defender window does open. I suspect a bug causing the GUI not to interact properly with the NVidia driver.

Hi:
How about reset the defender app and the definition to default version, and then update via windows update.

Code:
cd %ProgramFiles%\Windows Defender
MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -all
MpCmdRun.exe -ResetPlatform

Maybe but I suspect it's perhaps an issue integrating with the NVidia GPU driver. I've now sent a feedback report which no doubt Microsoft will ignore.
