I personally use Windows Security (Defender) and Malwarebytes Premium. And most importantly, common sense.

Definitely solid protection.

The only issue I have with Windows Security, versus a paid AV, is its rather lackluster updating. I often find myself manually checking periodically throughout the day for latest updates. No biggie really, but it certainty does not compete with a paid AV in that respect.

Conversely, I have my Malwarebytes set to 'Auto' check every 15 minutes. Works perfectly!

I find myself checking Norton daily, that doesn't seem to update that often

Interesting, thank you CR.

I was a long time Norton user but dropped them when they killed off NIS. It then seemed to become too bloated and commercialized (with Lifelock).

That was a couple years ago, so I cannot speak to its auto updating now. but at the time, it was great.

I suppose that too, has taken a dive. So unfortunate.

Again, thank you for the information.

Best regards.

I've never been a WD fan... that graph is pretty much ... well like "we are all cool" - I'm struggling whether to keep Kaspersky (but that's for political reasons)

Hope they get the false positives sorted ..

... also ransomware should be more prominent in these tests.

BTW LOL at the Xploit... what a pillock!

i have disabled and removed Windows Defender (Virus & Threat Protection), hate it bcos I cant install cracked apps :D
Lol. As bad as what you said sounds, for me I get what your saying. I just moved to Avast from Bitdefender, I like both of them but yeah Windwos Defender Locks rubbish down but in a bad way for me. No reason to accept or agree or have to sit and tweak the AV for a few hours to get the settings to where I would need them to be. Irritating.

You can grab Bitdefender Total security for 6 months free. If you need a link let me know. I just finished 6 months of it free and moved back to Avast, what I was using prior.

WD seems to work ok for me and I also use the free Malwarebytes. I do do frequent manual scans with WD as well as with Malwarebytes. Also the offline scans at least once a week.
Good for z3r010 for getting rid of that ideot.

Why, do you just not feel comfortable with just WD stand alone?

Just good to have a second opinion if WD geta wobbly false positive. I rarely do a manual scan with either. I run updates scans more often with Winver and that keeps Malwarebytes up to date if it's needed.

WD doesn't deal with spyware and malware. MB does. So, a scan with MB reveals a lot that WD doesn't.

I use both WD and the free MWB because they don't cost me anything, they get on together and seem to work ok. In the past, I have used Norton, McAffe, AVG and Kaspersky, my worst virus attack was when using Norton, about 21 years ago.

I think back then all AV's were worthless gimmicks, nothing replaces click care I suppose when all is said and done
