Deleted libraries keep being automatically re-added after I delete them

I deleted all 4 of the common libraries (documents, pictures, music, videos) from the main library, but the videos and pictures libraries keep adding themselves back in every time I delete them. Documents and Music do not. I moved all 4 from C: to D: drive using standard location change. How can I prevent this?

Sounds to me like you just moved your user folders. Libraries and user folders are not the same thing.
  • A folder acts as a container for other files and folders ( subfolders). Each folder is stored at a specific point in your computer's file system.
  • Library:
A library is a kind of smart folder that presents files from different folders as if they were all stored in the same location. In fact, each file remains in the folder in which you stored it, but the library gives you an easy way to access it. Libraries can be optimized for one of 4 different categories of content (documents, music, pictures, and videos) or for general items. Depending on how a library is optimized, one sees different options for sorting the files within the library. For example, if a library is optimized for music, you can sort its containing files by album name.
  • A user can add additional folder locations to a library. Let's say you have some music in your 'music' folder which is windows default folder for that file type. But you also have a lot of music stored on an external hard drive in a folder called 'old music'. You can include this old music folder in the music library so that when you select the music library in explorer, you see ALL your music in one place even though it is physically located in 2 separate folders on 2 separate drives.
  • One can show or hide libraries if he chooses.

Glasskuter,
Thanks for trying, but I know the difference between a folder and library. When I got the machine, Libraries had 4 libraries under it and each had the corresponding folder for the 4 folders I mentioned, Libraries --> Documents library --> Documents folder. I deleted all 4 libraries so that there was nothing under Libraries and then completed the configuration of my machine. After that I created a library with my user directory in it. In that library I then added the documents folder, music,... I use my user folder enough to want to have a direct link to it and since it has a ton of folders (including the other 3 in my list), I can leave the user folder minimized and get directly to the 4 main user folders.
See below for the complete setup as it exists right now, which is the way I want it. In a day or two, I'm not sure what the trigger is, the Video library with corresponding folder and pictures library/folder will appear directly under Libraries on the same level as my user folder (billn).

Any other ideas?

When those 2 libraries reappear, does that library contain the exact same files as your user folder of that same file type? The only thing I can think of as to why the video and pictures libraries keep reappearing is that either some folder/s somewhere was at one time added to each of those libraries and it's registry entry still points to it or it has something to do with the way you optimized your new library. Is your new library optimized for general items?
Since I have never seen anyone use a library in such a way as you are, I would not know how to advise. Sorry. Hopefully someone else has ideas for you. Good luck.

glasskuter, Thanks for the effort. I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can find the trigger.
Where would the registery entry for the libraries be? (I'm comfortable with regedit).

I have no idea. I guess you could search in the registry by folder name. But of course that would return all entries relating to the presence of your real videos and pictures folders. You wouldn't want to do anything to mess up the real thing. Short of making a new user account, I do not know of anything else to try. If you go that route you can not move files from one account to the other. In old account you have to copy files to external media, then copy from external media into new account. If not done that way, all the permissions will be screwed up.
