Desktop files only go to OneDrive

I am migrating to new computer with Win 11 and finally got Onedrive out of my life except trying to put items on the desktop as they were on Win 10 machine puts them in User/Curt/Onedrive. Can I stop that and do I really need to. I prefer not to even see onedrive appear on my computer anywhere.

I had the problem moving my screenshots to the Main Rig over the Network Connection as they would end-up on the OneDrive instead
So I unsynced my Win11 MS-Test OS to OneDrive then changed my account to a local account... WORKED (for me).
- Working off my memory, I probably had to remove the "Device" from my MS account too.

Then uninstall it (use RevoUninstaller, including the advanced option to remove all leftover files/folders/registry entries).
Using Revo ...
- install
- Options tab > Uninstaller > untick Make system restore point > tick Check mark all leftovers by default > OK
- Find Microsoft Onedrive
- double click to uninstall
- DO NOT REBOOT EVEN IF PROMPTED
- select the Advanced radio button
- run and indiscriminately delete EVERYTHING offered, no picking and choosing
- when finished, reboot


Then go into MS Word > File menu > Account (bottom, lh column) > Manage settings > untick all options starting with "Experience .....
Then go into MS Word > File menu > Options > Save > untick Auto save files in the cloud etc > tick Save to computer by default > set the local path name

Settings should populate across products but check anyway, that Excel settings are similar.
