Desktop Keyboard Shortcut Keys Very Slow To Respond

This is something that I have only encountered in Windows 11, although I have seen plenty of reports of it occurring in Windows 10.
Here is one such report on Windows 10 Forums. Here is a Super User article.

If I create a Desktop keyboard shortcut key and run it from the keyboard, it takes about 3 seconds to respond. If I double click on that same Desktop shortcut, it opens immediately.
I have tested a few different shortcuts, and it appears that they are all affected.

I haven't found a fix yet. Maybe it's a bug.
Or maybe someone on this forum may know how to fix it.

I solved it by renaming it C: \ Windows \ ImmersiveControlPanel \ SystemSettings.exe by SystemSettings.old, entering with a Linux distro. Then when I returned to Windows I could change the name without problems.

The point is that when that file is renamed the configuration center stops working, but if the name is changed to the original it works normally again.

What I did was create a shortcut to change the name that points to a .bat file that I later converted to exe (necessary to run as administrator)

rename C: \ Windows \ ImmersiveControlPanel \ SystemSettings.exe SystemSettings.old

And another shortcur to reset the name

rename C: \ Windows \ ImmersiveControlPanel \ SystemSettings.old SystemSettings.exe

So when I need to use the configuration center I just have to use the shortcut

Yes, it's a bug, and MS knows about it and has known about it since early W10, but it's not fixed yet.

Custom-made hotkeys are the ones (usually Ctrl + Alt + a key) that misbehave; not the built-in hotkeys like Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
The problem is well described on the Net.

Here's the easy and effective solution. Clavier + is small, requires no installation, comes with no baggage, is free (donations welcome), is really easy to set up with all your custom hotkeys (but remember that you should undo hotkeys you have set up in shortcuts earlier, before you set new hotkeys; then your new hotkeys can be exactly what your old ones were, except that they work INSTANTLY), it adds nothing to any context menu, it's really low on resources use, and it WORKS. Win, win, win.

(I used Angus Johnson's Resource Hacker to switch out the built-in icon for one I think goes with the other white outline icons in the tray. That's entirely optional. I even wrote the author about it and sent him a pic, and he's considering using a similar icon.)

Thanks Wisewiz.

I didn't have this problem in Windows 10. Only in Windows 11.
But while searching for a fix, I think I did see it reported by some Windows 10 users.

Did you try Shad0w's fix posted above?

You sure you're in the right thread? We're discussing shortcut hotkeys. There ain't no "suggest words" option.
