Disable USB Type C Power Delivery to Laptop from Hubs, Monitors etc

Hello, recently i had a bad luck of overcomplicating my life even more by purchasing LG 40WP95C-W monitor to use it with my ASUS ProArt StudioBook laptop.
Long story short: the only way to connect it in my case is USB Type C, but despite any logic the monitor begins to charge my laptop through Type C Power Delivery, even though the laptop is actually connected to its original charger.

Not only that is inefficient, i read on reddit that it actually causes motherboards to burn!!!

So in a perfect world you would just disable that behavior in monitor's settings, but LG didn't thought to make that option;
or disable that behavior is BIOS, but then ASUS didn't thought about it either and bios on ProArt is actually extremely limited.

okay, then you'd just use a Type C port which doesn't have PD (power delivery), but for some reason it still charges the laptop!!!

and you can't even disable Type C Power Delivery in Windows 11 settings, although i remember something relative in Windows 10.

So unless i get some help here, i will either have to buy a proper hub from Asus, or buy a separate PC to use it with my new monitor.

But still hoping there is an easy solution to this.

right now I am facing the same issue and I am still searching for a better solution. Until then I would probably use a USB - C to HDMI cable. I don't think that the monitor supports power output through HDMI. Maybe this can help you.

unfortunately HDMI is limited in both resolution and Hz.

I have the same problem with my ASUS ProArt StudioBook laptop and my new ProArt monitor. The HDMI solution works, but as the original poster said, it is very limited. I would really like to connect my laptop to my monitor via USB-C and charge my laptop with its original charger at the same time... Any solutions so far?

Theoretically there must be a Type C cable without Power Delivery. I tried 3 but none of them worked for my monitor.

There is one last option. Buy a USB -C Hub which has multiple USB C ports and connect the cable to a port without power delivery

Another option would be a USB - C to DisplayPort cable. As you said, HDMI is limited, but DisplayPort supports up to 8K 60Hz

I just wanted to get back to this topic and ask if you have found a solution that works for you. Also you mentioned that a proper hub from Asus might solve this problem. Do you have a hub in mind that solves this problem ?

you should have a setting in the BIOS to disable USB charging but still keep the USB port enabled for data.

Unfortunately, the ASUS Bios is very limitied in that regard

Connect usb-c cable to a usb-a connector, and plug into a standard usb 3 socket which do not support power in.

From my understanding of the first post, USB C is their only option.

I thought you could only charge by a thunderbolt port. I have never heard of a pc that only had thunderbolt ports.

All I do know is that they said the monitor is charging the laptop and they can only connect it to the laptop using USB C. If the laptop has a USB A port they can try using a USB A to USB adapter as you suggested.
