On multiple machines with Windows 11 25H2 I experienced that because of the
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters]
"DisabledComponents"=dword:00000000
registry value Windows did not assign temporary IPv6 addresses, despite this being the default value and IPv6 privacy extensions being enabled. The output of ipconfig.exe would look like this:
Code:
   IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2003:c595:7eac:e453:400f:5223:a923:cb68
   Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::decb:5eb2:9335:7374%11
   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.25
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : fe80::a6c0:9d4d:ea5a:cb93%11
                                       192.168.1.1
Note the absence of any Temporary IPv6 Address lines. After deleting the registry value and rebooting, Windows did immediately assign a temporary IPv6 address, and another one after one day, as expected:
Code:
   IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2003:c595:7eac:e453:400f:5223:a923:cb68
   Temporary IPv6 Address. . . . . . : 2003:c595:7eac:e453:6b1e:e4da:33cd:f8c4
   Temporary IPv6 Address. . . . . . : 2003:c595:7eac:e453:d93b:8bbb:3360:aa63
   Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::decb:5eb2:9335:7374%11
   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.25
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : fe80::a6c0:9d4d:ea5a:cb93%11
                                       192.168.1.1
I am not entirely sure if deleting that registry value is responsible for resolving the issue, or if a reboot would have resolved it anyway. I would like to hear if others have experienced this as well.
