Solved Discovered that a Full Macrium Reflect image does not include the recycle bin

I had just done a Full backup of the three partitions on my HP device and I thought the image file was larger than expected at 75.31 GB.
I saw that there was something in the Recycle Bin and it turned out to be a 45 GB Macrium image file so I deleted it from the Bin.
I ran a second Full image expecting it to be smaller but it wasn't. It was the same at 75.31 GB.

I thought the Recycle Bin was a safety net in case you wanted to recover a file from it so I would expect MR to include it in the image but it seems that I am wrong.

Can anyone confirm that MR omits the Recycle Bin by design or is there a setting I need to change in MR?

I'm using version X, but it may be the same: if you click on the defaults icon, under compression there is a reference to 'forensic copying' which includes everything. Under Exclude there is an option to exclude the recycle bin, although that is not selected by default.

I am using v7, and can confirm that the recycle bin is included - and I can find no option to exclude it. Nor can I find any reference to that iin the v8 or vX user guides online. Did you discover what was causing the large original image? I suggest you reboot and image again,

This is the Backup Defaults 'Compression' window in v8.1.8631 and I have now switched it to 'Make an exact copy'. This states that "Deleted files may be recovered" so I take this to mean it includes the Recycle Bin whereas the 'Intelligent Sector Copy' does not.
I'll copy a lot of files and then put them in the Bin and create another Full backup to see if it is larger and report back.

So I copied 4.84 GB files and then deleted them into the Recycle Bin. With the 'Create an exact copy' setting the Full image was 4.28 GB larger so this confirms that it includes the Bin whereas the 'Intelligent sector copy' does not.

Solved and thanks for your input.

No I didn't. The image wasn't overly larger. Just larger than expected so not a big deal. Just normal growth since it is my main device in daily use.
