Do I need Brother utilities in my startup?

The title says it all. I have 3 of them. I figure they will engage automatically if I choose to print.
If not I can launch what I need (it would only be my scanner software and that also tells me my cartridge ink gauge).

I am considering disabling them. Am I missing something?

I've been using Brother printers, scanners and MFCs etc for years.
I only have two Brother utilities running at startup, and I think they are handy to have.

I have Brother Status Monitor and Control Center that starts up and runs in my tray.
They run from two registry entries at this location.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run



Brother Status Monitor monitors your ink/toner and updates, and Control Center gives you the ability to scan straight from the tray. I have a desktop shortcut called Brother Utilities that contains all the other tools. But it doesn't run at startup.

You can safely delete the registry entries if you decide that you don't want them running in your tray at startup, but I personally wouldn't. It's up to you whether you find them useful or not. You can also delete the desktop shortcut if you want. You'll still find everything in the start menu.
