Does one lose oem status once changing to win 11 pro from home


In Aug 2022 I bought a Dell desktop with 10 Pro. I upgraded to 11 Pro the first week. Dell has worked on it several times since...under warranty.

HI, I want to inform that I have purchased the key from the dell exclusive vendor from whom I purchased the dell desktop.
Of course, it is a retail license. My Service tag tells that it is windows 11 pro . I think I made it clear

The status of the Windows license being OEM v. Retail is 110% irrelevant. For Windows 10 or 11 Pro, change the product key to VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T and you have a retail license. Change the product key to NF6HC-QH89W-F8WYV-WWXV4-WFG6P and you now have an OEM license. Flip flop them back and forth as much as you like.

Changing OS doesn't void the Warranty. Otherwise nobody could use Linux, unless it is preinstalled on the computer he bought. It doesn't make sense. You don't damage the hardware in any way by installing another OS. If you take this paranoia further, we would be binded to the bundled applications. Installing any new application would void the Warranty. As this is nonsense, it is also nonsense to fear that upgrading Home to Pro would void the Warranty. Relax, we live in a free country.

Because, av firewall overrides windows firewall for eg.
In the name of free for 1 year, they by default do not allow and the default selection like firewall, access to ports are predefined, which is not known to common man.
I have to find what are all the bundled programs with the product.
Too rigid firewall is bad I think, you cannot do anything or experiment anything.

No.

It's perfectly safe to fall back to Windows Defender, which I've been using since Windows 10 got released.

You're not forced to use any of the software bundled with your computer. This is a matter of fact the first set of software I uninstall before even setting up all the applications I need. Usually I just check what is bundled, then wipe the whole disk and clean install Windows to ensure I have a clean slate.

But I don't recommend this path to anyone with only a little or no computer setup experience.

No need for a clean installation, I just update all drivers, especially graphics, to maximize performance. I then uninstall any useless application and finally I install my own. I would do a clean installation only to change Windows version (from 10 to 11, from Home to Pro) if I can't do so by upgrading.
