I was trying to use RUFUS, to install W11 on one of my older machines, but it won't seem to let me download the ISO file.....Has Microsoft blocked Rufus from by-passing the minimum requirements for installing W11 ?.......

Yes, Rufus still works OK. Make sure you are on the latest version

You need to download the iso file BEFORE using Rufus

I recommend you downloading iso files from my.visualstudio.com which are always the latest versions.
Rufus will download from Microsoft website which is an old image, and you have to update it after installation.
here is a list of available images on my.visualstudio.com if you don't have a subscription.
always check sha256 or md5 after downloading. rufus has the ability to check.
is it the only problem with rufus or you have more problems?

You can try and use this to download the ISO but hardcodes some changes, theyre all ok to use though (i do)

GitHub - illsk1lls/Win-11-Download-Prep-Tool: Downloads the latest Win 11 x64 ISO direct from MS - Then SysPreps each index, removing: Network requirements during install, TPM requirements, S-Mode, and RAM requirements.

it uses rufus's download engine, it won't burn it to disc, though you will still need Rufus to burn, but that will drop an ISO into the folder you run the script from when it's done.

If that doesn't work then maybe something is wrong with Fido (rufus's ms link generation) or maybe your system is being blocked from using powershell by your AV or exploit protection, Rufus uses powershell to generate the link, you will know right away if this script doesn't work if that is the problem, because it uses the same thing

OP are you confusing downloading the ISO vs creating a bootable USB? And FYI I just used Rufus 4.9 portable to download the Win11 ISO.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
O.k....so when Rufus comes up, next to Download there should be a dropdown arrow.......on mine there is not......

As I suggested in post No 10 :-) Don't forget to format the usb stick again before trying to burn it.
