Does S3 sleep work in Windows 11?

I'm in the same boat.

I decided to stick with S0 Modern standby disabled even though it means I only have: on, hibernate, off.
At least I can control what's going on and my long scripts can run to completion despite the display being turned off by Power options.

All the best,
Denis
Same thing, I have some cases every month where I run a script that takes maybe 5 hours to crawl some sites or whatever, but I want the screens to turn off after 10 idle minutes. I think this works for me. It's a laptop, but it nearly never leaves my desk.

At least I can control what's going on and my long scripts can run to completion despite the display being turned off by Power options.
[I noticed that you referred to the need to run scripts in one of your other posts on the subject].

I did, for a while, try a workaround that stopped S0 Modern standby being triggered but gave up & disabled it.
- Set Power options to always keep the display on [thus stopping S0 Modern standby being triggered].
- Set a dark screensaver to come on after a minute or so in order to stop the screen staring at me all day if I was not actively using that computer. I also set up a shortcut so I could trigger the screensaver manually whenever I felt like it.
There was nothing actually wrong with this arrangement but I just decided disabling S0 Modern standby would be more straightforward. My intense resentment of S0 Modern standby was a factor in reaching this opinion.

All the best,
Denis
yeah it's crazy how bad it is. I have no idea what made my fans blast at 100% powerful when S0 came on, as far as I could determine the CPU was idle and it wasn't producing much heat... seems like bad firmware development to me on Dell's part.

Ran the command and rebooted, but it appears to have disabled S0 without enabling S3.

This may not be expected result but who knows, maybe it'll actually solve my own personal problem case of an obnoxiously loud fan when the screens turn off, at the expense of perhaps some power savings.

This indicates that your BIOS removes the S3 entries from ACPI tables like how I explained. All your hardware should still be compatible with S3, though. That is, except maybe your internal WiFi card, which should be easy to replace with an intel AX200 card to fix that problem. But then, to get S3 back you'd still need a modded BIOS that effectively restores the missing S3 entries in ACPI. There are some great online sources where you can look for all different kinds of modded BIOSes. But anyway.. fingers crossed. lol Below is a link to an old post on Reddit that describes how it is possible to load a modded BIOS (without flashing the EEPROM) by using rEFInd, which should work if Secure Boot is kept disabled like how I also explained.
Only problem, the BIOS modding used in that example removes the S0ix entries from ACPI tables. Whereas what you should (...) be looking for is a way to restore the missing S3 entries in ACPI tables.

pure Evil.

I found a way that worked for me (S0 disabled, S3 enabled). I have an ASUS laptop with AMD Ryzen 9.

I followed the tutorial here
and here is another thread from the author

They also claimed that it could work with Intel.

Funnily enough, I've been toying with the idea of getting an AMD Ryzen 5 computer but the S0/S3 issue has been one of the things giving me pause for thought.
Have any Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 owners disabled S0 Modern standby - ElevenForum

I'll give ZephyrusG14's method some serious consideration.
