Yes it works if you already installed Windows 11 by bypass hardware requirement then there is nothing to do except for installing 26H2 upgrade.

26H2 is not released yet, it is expected to be publicly available in September/October.

The only '26H2' available at present is an Insider Experimental Build, you really shouldn't install that just to try 26H2 a few month early.

Because 26H2 shares a common set of system files with 24H2, as does your 25H2, then the 26H2 features will have been installed already in a dormant state by the monthly cumulative updates leading up to its release. To upgrade to 26H2 all you need to do will be to install a small Enablement Package that turns on the dormant 26H2 features. This will be available to download in the 'News' section when it becomes available (as was the 25H2 Enablement Package).

The nice thing about these enablement packages is that they install just like a CU - no workarounds required, they don't make any checks (y)

UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

26H1 is not an upgrade path for AMD/Intel x64 processors. It is a fork of Windows 11 specifically designed for Copilot+ PCs with Qualcom Snapdragon X2 ARM processors.

It will never be offered to any supported device with an x64 CPU.

No, you can only do an in-place upgrade to the same or a higher build version.

Your 26H1 is build 28020, 25H2 is build 26200, and 26H2 will be 26300. Both are lower build than your 26H1. If you attempt to downgrade to a lower build you will only be allowed to 'Keep Nothing'.

How do I revert back to 25H2 after already updated to 26H1?

Would have been easy if you had a backup image made with Macrium or another imaging app.

I had seen this screen when I was trying to do in-place upgrades back to 25H2. I aborted the operation and wiped this disk and did a disk restore or clone from my other hard drive.
