Don't setup a diagnostic start using msconfig!


@kelper and @Dru2 did either of you try to enter the one-time boot menu such that you could boot from a USB stick? On my Asus board I press F8 to get into it. I would also need to turn off Secure Boot as I have revocations applied.

I pressed F2 on my Acer to boot into the BIOS. I then changed the boot order to boot from a USB HDD which had Macrium Reflect.

But a restore took ten minutes. There must be an easier way to reset msconfig options!

Why not try for yourself and see how hard it is to recover from a 'diagnostic startup'?

I did check the BIOS but that was only to make sure my settings hadn't changed as to why I couldn't log in. At the end of the day, there was no need to go into the BIOS as the fix for me came from a Restore Point via Recovery Mode.

The trick though is getting the PC / Laptop into Recovery Mode.
