Any help appreciated

When saving a picture, Try Save AS when selecting your location to save in.
If it saves as a .jpeg, but doesn't have an app associated with it to open, you may need to assign a default app to open .jpegs.

You may need to explain the issue a little better, give a step by step example of your process and the result 🙏

However, at a guess, is there any chance they are .webp images? e.x. photoname.webp
A problematic extension indeed.

If so, you can convert them online. A terrible pain in the butt.

Another way to convert .webp files to .jpg is with digiKam. It may be overkill if this is all you need to do but it's a nice piece of free software. I use it to manage my photo collection.

I use photoshop, they have a new extension for webp conversion. But thank you for this, I will keep it in my “Quick Convert” folder 🙏

I keep most of my downloaded images in webp format..., takes up a heck of a lot less space!
Plenty of programs that will open .webp..., ImageGlass for one!

Nope.

The question to me is a little ambiguous. I’d like robofors to explain the process so as to understand better.

Just to confirm when i try to save an image from web page it comes up with only option of saving as unhandled extension handler finder. The only file that saves correctly is WEBP files. I have set Windows photo viewer up to be default viewer and it will open files on my computer no problem.I have read that this issue is caused by installing the original photo viewer. Honestly i would prefer Photo Viewer over Photos . Any help appreciated
Regards Mark

Hi, Mark.
Then I would of tried the suggestion from @Spunk Post #2. Did you try that by any chance?

If you want the Edge browser system to default to .jpg format every time you save it, we recommend that you modify the registry to save the image format by default to solve your problem, please follow the steps below:

1.Enter "registry" in the start search bar to open -> find the following paths respectively

2.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\image/webp
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\image/jpeg

3. Double-click "Extension" respectively -> change .webp to .jpg

Double click "Extension" -> change .jfif to .jpg

I have actually just come across this and it works a charm. I also used this fix to undo and restore windows photo viewer
Kind regards Mark
