One of my drives is filling up quite nicely.

Is there any way to change the color to say orange or something? Hardly alarming red needed with 177 GB to go...

It's supposed to be alarming. :-)

Time to sort through your "Media" and throw out the stuff you no longer need... or get a bigger storage drive.
Or move some of the stuff on the Media drive to another drive.

As you can see... I was nearing the same nasty RED warning, on my H: and I: partitions.
So I got a bigger drive....

J:, K:, L:, and M: have the exact same data as... F:, G:, H: and I: partitions.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

I believe it changes to red when available disk space is less than 10% of total disk space.

Getting a bigger drive just to get rid of the alarming red? Then I would also have to get a bigger external drive, it has a backup of the Media drive. Both still have some unallocated space left. But the external one also has another partition on it. And I like to keep the drive and its backup equal in size.

Not sure what answer you're looking for? The drive is obviously near full, thus the attention gabbing red color.

The answer I'm looking for is a way to control when a different color shows and the color itself.

I did find a way to remove the colored bar entirely:

Looks like this (no explorer restart needed):

Note: not the same device as previously shown.

@Brink, perhaps you can make a new tutorial out of this? ;-)

Anyway, I guess changing the color will somehow magically remove the "running out of space" warning?
