Defender flags this latest version v0.12.127 as virus detected. Probably a false positive.
I'll try it again in a few days and see if new virus definitions straighten this out.

I scanned it with Defender and it scanned clean.

Verified.

Yea i don't get it either. Been using this program for years with no issues.
Tried it again just now and my pc just refuses to download it.
Hopefully it will clear up whenever my defender virus definitions update.

In Driver Store Explorer if you click on help > about at the top there will be a direct link to download a new version.

Seems to have cleared itself up. Was able to download this with no issues today.

Windows Defender in Windows 11 at least allows one to allow a threat, Windows 10's defender does not give a choice:

are you sure about that in Win10? did you recently download & update the definition files for WD?


edit: as for me, I'll stay with using the 0.12.64 version since is the last one that allows me to pick a specific/individual INF file to add/install; newer releases from 0.12.82 on ward only allow picking a folder where the INF files are stored

Not 100% sure because this is my old machine I didn't use for 6 years but only for the last 3 months but I have updated everything that has to be updated, there is no Allow in the menu where it shows the event.... I basically ignore whatever it tries to do and eventually it will let me successfully download or copy the file. And it's current according to the last update and the the time stamps or at least hopefully it's current but that was what it said after I did a manual Check for Updates and nothing new got installed.



I can easily trigger a false positive, there is just no "allow" option when a threat is detected unless there is a way to hide that option.

The only time I even see the allow option is not on the Protection history page but in this area where when it detects something bad, it will have a Start actions button but the allow option is not always there.



This machine used to use Norton but that was for close to 10 years prior to 2019 and then switched back to Defender once Norton expired.

It's the same issue as mentioned here except this is on Windows 10 Home.


Thanks @erpster4 for the heads up on versions newer than 0.12.64 not showing files inside a folder when Adding drivers, I had opened it as a issue under Add Driver no longer shows files list after selecting folder since version 0.12.64 · Issue #390 · lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer
as I looked at all the changes/release notes for all versions after 0.12.64 and that was not mentioned, I think it got broken when they were this and probably no one complained about it so it was never fixed.
