Driver Update history missing

Strange thing happened, I reinstalled Windows 11 25H2 freshly.
I always use GPEDIT to disable automatic updates and always ensure that drivers are never included in the WU.

I would manually install each driver from my motherboard repository, and the driver history would show in Settings > Windows Updates.
I installed the first 8 motherboard drivers after rebooting as usual in between each required. I noticed that this time, windows did not show a history of installed driver updates and it also failed to "auto install" the intel management engine driver which it always did in the past.

I rebooted once more, and manually installed the ME driver from the repository and it shows up in the driver history - but none of the other ones still.

The drivers are installed, as per device manager not showing any exclamation marks so I am confused why the sudden change in lack of update history?

Puzzled- why would you expect any history reference in Windows Update to something not installed by that route?

Because every previous installation of Windows 11 25H2 and prior, showed all manual driver installs. I am just wondering if anyone experienced a similar occurrence, and why the sudden "disappearance" of the install history for this Windows install only so far.

Furthermore, the 9th driver install done manually showed up in WU history. So I am perplexed!

Windows Update history only covers actions performed by WU. Any manually installed KB updates or driver installs you performed aren't logged here. If you saw driver updates in history, that's probably because WU tried to replace some the drivers you just installed or found missing drivers for you.

Which is very counter to what I have experienced, as I have always disabled drivers through WU + disabled automatic updates before any internet connection is available (because my motherboard requires the drivers before internet is even an option).

Here is a photo of my current driver install history, from the 9th motherboard driver (intel ME) and after plugging in an apple device.

How can WU replace drivers etc. if it does not have access to the internet?

Windows Update can still:
  • Use local driver packages already present in the OS image.
  • Use OEM-provided inbox drivers.
  • Perform driver servicing actions without internet.
  • Log plug‑and‑play events.
Internet access is only required for downloading new drivers—not for logging update‑related servicing.
