Windows 10 Pro, Partition 1/Windows 11 Partition 2
Hi all. I'm running a fresh copy of Windows 11 22H2 on my new NUC 11th Gen Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz 2.42 GHz.
The main drive is a 1 TB M.2 NVME. There is room for another SSD so I cloned my Windows 10 drive from my old NUC using Macrum Reflect.
The clone completed successfully but after installed in my NUC Windows 10 won't boot. Since I still have a lot of data on the Windows 10 drive I really don't want to re install Windows 10. And I have Easy BCD installed so that I can boot to either drive. Is there a simple way to correct the boot issue on the windows 10 drive?
The error black screen says a file is missing? I thought by cloning the boot record would clone from the old drive.
Thanks
Dave

Yes that worked. Now everything is booting as it should. But now I have several entries in Easy BCD. Is it safe to delete all these extra entries?
Thanks, Navy, for your help. This site is the best

The problem now is that you have two EFI System Partitions and we don't know which one the computer is booting from. Open a command prompt with admin privileges again and run:

diskpart
list volume

You should see two volumes with FAT32 file systems. One will be marked System that your computer is booting from. Select the other 100 MB volume and delete it's matching partition:

select volume # <- replace # with the actual number for the second FAT32 partition not marked as system
delete partition override
Exit

See if that clears up all the extra entries in Easy BCD.

  • I did manage to figure out which Windows 10 was booting, and I removed the "dead" entry from Easy BCD. But I still have several odd entries in the Easy BCD menu. I'm considering uninstalling Easy BCD and leaving it to Windows boot manager. I'm a little apprehensive about doing that as I don't want to screw up the booting process again. Your thoughts???

Easy BCD does not control booting. It only modifies the BCD file which controls the booting. Removing it will not affect anything.
