Hello! I just recently factory reset my PC to clear up some other issues that I had ran into, but now in less than a day I am running into another issue (WIN11)

Inside the notifications settings, I have 2 copies of the settings app, does anybody know how I can fix this?Screenshot 2024-06-17 111930.png

Hello Brink! thanks for the response. I looked through the registry location, and it does not seem to me that there is a duplicate registry entry for it. unless I am missing something here, it all looks normal inside regedit.

I am a bit worried about resetting the entire thing, as I read someone else's post about not being able to get notification apps back in the settings after clearing.

attached a screenshot of regedit.

It's safe to reset it all if you like. The apps will automatically repopulate as you get notifications from them.

the PowerShell command cleared everything out, and using a brave test notification did repopulate brave in the settings. Thank you! seems to be working normally. I don't remember what triggered the "settings" notification initially, do you know of anyway to get "settings" to send me a notification to make sure that it does not add two ?

Great news. :shawn:

It was most likely a glitch causing the duplicate Settings entry.

I'm not sure about a way to force Settings to send a notification though.

I had made a registry backup before running the command, so that I could investigate a bit. The duplicate entry is Microsoft.Windows.DynamicLightingToastHandler. not sure why dynamic lighting notification appears identical to the settings app itself, if it is a glitch or not. is it worth reporting somewhere, or just delete and move on? either way thanks for the help Brink!

Looks like notifications for different settings from the same Settings app causing the duplication.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it happens again, then you should send feedback.
