Edge and Chrome Freezes after 24H2 update

Sometimes when I browse with MS Edge or Google Chrome, it randomly freezes. Problem started occuring on Windows 11 24H2. Has this problem been addressed?

There is no problem with Edge browser on my Windows 11 24H2, maybe add-on is causing the problem.

Well, it happens when I have Youtube or twitch open.

Check hardware acceleration settings in your browser. If it's on, turn it off and check videos. If it's off, turn it on and check.
(Mine is on in both my browsers and I have no issues, but some people have to turn it off)I use Firefox and Edge.
  1. For Firefox click hamburger icon, then settings.
  2. In the "General" panel, go to the "Performance" section.
  3. Uncheck the box next to "Use recommended performance settings" and make sure the box next to "Use hardware acceleration when available" is selected.
  4. Close and restart the browser for the change to take effect.
In Edge, click 3 dots>settings> "system & performance"> "use graphics acceleration when available"

In Chrome it's under settings>advanced>system

That I was about to suggest. Upgrading to 24H2 probably also upgraded the graphics drivers from Windows Update which they aren't always the best choice. Download the latest graphics drivers directly from nVidia and you should have no issues. Also make sure both browsers are updated to the latest version. Often bugs are fixed by a newer version.

As yet, no.

I'm on 25H2 26200.7171, Edge updated as of yesterday, no add-ons, and it still occurs, quite infrequent but noticeable. Can be any website including this forum.

I use YouTube and Twitch regularly, they have other types of random glitches, more likely than Edge freezing.

Just waiting or opening another Tab may unfreeze it without resorting to the Task Manager.
As it seems to affect the Chrome browser as well could well be Chromium.

Just wait for Windows/Edge updates, they usually fix things eventually.
