Edge favorites bar has only generic globe like icons

As the title of this thread says, Edge on this computer has only generic, globe looking icons. They are there whether I import them from a file or add then via the star.

Has anyone seen this, have a suggestion how to proceed?

Windows 11

Dell Inspiron 3487 (not officially supported)
Intel Core i5-4440 3.10GHz 4 Cores, 4 LPs, 8GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4600
HDD Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162

If you click on one of the favorites and go to the site, when you come back is the default icon now showing?

Also, if you want to search the eleven forum via Google, this is the best method

Search query [SPACE] site:elevenforum.com

If you visit site:elevenforum.com via Google Search in a browser, you can bookmark that Google page then you’ll only have to input the query before “Site”

Just a note, most Web sites provide their own icon and that globe is the default when no such icon exists, can't be read or the page is not fully loaded. Example of the Favorites Toolbar in Firefox:

Many of the results I found regarding your favicons not showing, directed people to the following app.

Manage Edge Favorites

The app hasn’t been updated since 2019 but that’s not to say that the “Generate missing favourite icons” feature won’t work.

Unfortunately as far as I know, Edge doesn’t have a default way of rebuilding Favicons less maybe deleting all site info, history/cache etc, from Edge

No help.

Compatibility EdgeManage is designed to work only with the so-called "legacy" version of Edge. It is not compatible with the new Chromium-based Edge.

I do appreciate your help so far though.

I now have the same problem on an old Acer Aspire Switch 11. It's a 32 bit system so it couldn't be any different from the Dell system I posted this problem for. It's running Windows 10 home 23H2, same as the Dell.

@Ztruker - how did you fix your icon issue on your Dell PC? I am having the exact same issue and cant seem to get it fixed.

It's not fixed, and now I have it on a HP All-in-one that I just did a clean install of Windows 10 Home on.
Intel Celeron 1.2 Ghz, 4GB Ram, Intel HD Graphics, 1600 x 900 x 59 hertz.

I'm in the process of doing another clean install of Windows 11 on the Dell PC.

I'd never seen this before and now I have it on 3 PCs. Microsoft has done something that is causing this.

Sometimes clearing the browser history/cache will lose the icon and get the generic until resaved.

I get this when I do a clean install and import favorites, add a new favorite, before or after clearing the browser history/cache on 3 totally different machines running Windows 10 or Windows 11.

On the Dell (same PC described in post #1) I did another clean install of Windows 11 and so far the Edge favicons are okay.

Manually import. It's a standard HTML file that looks like this (just the beginning of it). The icon is imbedded in the file:

It doesn't bring the full icons back. I've clicked on each one which opened the associated web page but the icon remained the default globe.

Don't see how I can sync since this is a church thrift store and each system is a stand alone that I bring up with a local account called Owner since I'm going to sell it once it's ready.

Working fine here on Edge and Canary version (latest W11 Pro)

I guess you have cleaned favicons as well? I cleaned them, restarted the browser, then restarted it again and favicons popped up.

The issue might related to a content filter and even a security protection, since favicons can be used to infect a computer
