Hi. I've just updated Edge to the latest version (123.0.2420.53). On restarting the browser a message urging me to make Edge my default browser - my default browser is currently Chrome appears. The options shown are Confirm ( to change default) or Set Later, which I don't want to do. If I simply close the box will this stop the nag box reappearing? Sorry if this is a basic question but thanks anyway.
Hi Mitch. Sorry no one has answered. I just saw your post.
When I use Edge, I may see that popup once in a blue moon about making Edge my default but it is not often.
I have Firefox set as my default browser for file types .htm and .html. (.pdf too if you don't use a third party pdf app) Settings>apps>default apps>scroll all the way to bottom and select "choose defaults by file type" and select Chrome as default for each of those ltypes. See if that makes a difference.
I just blocked EDGE and EDGE Updater in my Bitdefender firewall.
After that, EDGE just went running away... crying for it's mommy.
I don't think it's possible to permanently block EDGE in the Microsoft firewall.
MS will probably just unblock it, again, after the next update or three.
Hi Glasskuter & Ghot. I hadn't seen these popups for a while but since Edge version 123 and the subsequent updates to this, there's been a rash of them. Today's popups have even removed the close box X and the only options are Confirm or Not Now. Seems they can't take No for a answer. Chrome is already set as default for pdf. Probably have to keep swatting them away. Thanks again.
