Using latest Windows 11 Pro with a firewall.

When I open certain apps, (for example Quicken on my desktop), my firewall pops up and asks if I want to permit "Microsoft Edge WebView2" to access the web. I answer, no, and "disable All access" and go on with my business.

So, it is no big deal. Just an annoyance.

But, how do I permanently stop "Microsoft Edge WebView2" from running in the first place and wasting my time by trying to access the web.
Can I uninstal "Microsoft Edge WebView2" ?

Thank you.

For uninstall Microsoft Edge WebView2 use this tool :

Download Edge Remover 19.00 - MajorGeeks

Edge Remover simplifies the process of removing Microsoft Edge Browser and WebView2 by offering two options: removing Edge Browser along with WebView2 or removing Edge Browser only. The application does not have a GUI and instead presents a single popup window with the available options. Once you select an option, the application immediately performs the task and closes.

😉👍

Thank you.
I used it and it behaved as you described.

BUT, after Windows update and reboot, my firewall popped up before anything else to tell me Microsoft Edge Webview 2 was requesting web access.

So, it is still there. Did not work.
I hope it did not cause any harm along the way.....

That's because Windows updates will always revert it. Same thing if you use WinToys to get rid of them. You end up playing whack-a-mole, unless you want to take more drastic measures with the OS.
