Hi,

Just got a small window of time to collect my Edifier R1580 speakers.

They sound great....

Am clueless to get the best performance........any input would be much appreciated. @Edwin , ?

Attached via cable.
Remote not responding?
What to change in settings > audio. Don't see Edifier?
Any drivers required etc.?
How to place the active and passive apart, hiding the connecting cable? I like @Edwin , posted setup. Neat an tidy.....

Hoping to hear from the experts...

Thanks.

Additionally got a multiple Type C connector with 6 usb 2.0 and 3.0, hdmi, SD, micro SD, headphone too. Haven't tried that yet.....

Originally, I just plugged the 3.5mm to RCA straight from the headphone jack to the speaker...,
Windows recognized them immediately,
now I have a USB DAC...

... mine aren't passive so I can't comment on that,

most settings/enhancements should be in Sound Settings or the Control Panel.
(I always use the Control Panel applets...)

Connecting cables should be in PC slots or Aux on the rear of active speaker?
Attachments aren't showing up Edifier as yours?
Do I need to place a battery in the remote or does it have one?
What's a usb DAC....apologize for the ignorance.
The speaker connected to power and has all controls is the active, as per the booklet and the other passive...…..

Thanks

The cable is connected from the speaker to the laptop Lt end slot, opposite to the power slot.

Thanks again.

Either.

Which output of which machine are you plugging into?

The battery probably has a plastic preserving shield you need to peel off, then put it back in.

1. Both Red and White cables are in the PC and not Aux.
2. Correct, the remote is in plastic bag.
3. Using a output like for power, on the Lt corner above the usb and usb C slots?

Thanks,

I don't understand some of Edwin's response.

The Audioquest Dragonfly is a DAC (digital to analog converter), that takes a digital signal through a USB connection and makes an analog signal to drive an amplifier/speakers like your Edifier R1580. I've never used such a device, but I can't imagine how it would sense what the analog audio system is. As far as I know, there is no handshaking over that kind of connection. The same would apply to the analog output of a PC or laptop. I wonder what Edwin has done to make the Edifier show up with the DAC?

I presume that you're connecting the R1580 to the laptop using the cable with RCA (red and white) plugs on one end, and a stereo 3.5 mm plug at the other. I doubt that it matters which pair of inputs you use. I imagine that the auxiliary input is there so you could attach a second audio source, and switch between the PC and that second source.

Drivers are necessary with an analog output. They are already present.

You want to hide the cable that connects the active box to the passive speaker? You can buy cable hiders at big box stores like Home Depot, but they're intend for running cables on a wall. (Does Home Depot operate in Hawaii?)

The remote uses a CR 2025 lithium button cell. I don't know whether one was pre-installed. Manual: R1580 manual

The DragonFly creates it's own audio device, the 3.5mm plugs into the back of it...
