Enable 1920 x 1200 on Intel 630

I have a HP ZR24w monitor that has a native resolution of 1920x1200 connected to the VGA port as my GTX 1050 ti card is already full and I just want the extra desk space.

The problem is that the intel driver will not allow me to go above 1920x1080, and when I try to create another resolution it says bad parameters.

Does anyone know how to get 1920x1200 enabled on the Intel 630 graphics? I am 99.999% certain that I used to have it working correctly but for some reason I can't make it happen any more and circles are no longer circles as a result :(

Only thing I could suggest is, if possible on your setup, set the aspect ratio to 16:10, rather than the usual default of 16:9, and let the pixel resolution sort itself out

You should probably get the drivers for your monitor. They will tell Windows what resolutions your monitor can handle.

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I should have said that I had already installed the HP monitor information but that made no difference.

It appears to be the Intel software that is preventing the resolution but I can’t find the software to delete it and see if the native windows drivers would be better.

however, please post the values from this registry entry we will likely have to add them to it
(note this monitor will run on the thier drivers NOT Intels)

The key doesn't exist.

The monitor isn't new, however it also isn't 14 years old :-) It used to work correctly - it is just recently that it appears to have gone belly up and won't do the correct resolution.

Is the monitor correctly identified in Device Manager? monitor.png
The attached is what I get in my setup.

As regards drivers, the Microsoft Basic ones usually have poor performance compared to the ones for your display adapter.

And somewhat bizarrely, after the Cumulative Update (KB5020040) the Intel Graphics Utility is now allowing me to set 1920x1200 resolution!

The problem is therefore resolved, but why after 2 weeks of trying to solve it by all means it wouldn't work and then it works after the update with nothing more being changed by me - who knows?

In case anyone else has the same issue, he can run a utility called CustomModeSet (found inside the C:\Windows\System32 folder) to create a custom resolution. Use the desired size and 60Hz refresh rate. If the auto timing method doesn't work, set it manually to CVT-RB and it should work. If the resolution is too high for your onboard graphics card, such as 3840x2160 try replacing the 60Hz with 30Hz or 24Hz refresh rate.

I thought that this might be the answer to future prayers, so I went looking for it to have a look, however I cannot find anything my this name anywhere on the drives. I even tried an Admin command line search from C:\ for custommode*.* checking through all subdirectories to try to find anything like you suggest, unfortunately to no avail :(

This appears for old Intel drivers. I am not sure if it appears for newer cards. My laptop has Intel HD 4000 graphics. For AMD or nVidia graphics open the respective Control Panel and look for Custom Resolution. Just Google Intel 630 custom resolution to see how to do it.
