This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off the Resume feature for Android mobile devices (phone) linked to your account on a Windows 11 PC.
Starting with Windows 11 build 26200.5761 (Dev 25H2), build 26120.5761 (Beta 24H2), and build 28020.1619 (Canary 26H1), Microsoft is beginning to gradually roll out the ability to seamlessly resume using your favorite apps from your Android phone on your Windows 11 PC to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels. To start with, you will be able to resume or continue listening to your favorite Spotify tracks and episodes right from where you left off on the Spotify app on your Android phone.
Resume allows you to continue tasks and other app activities from linked mobile devices on your PC.
Cross-device resume requirements:
- Allow this PC to access your mobile devices turned on in your PC settings.
- Link your Android phone to your Windows 11 PC.
- Allow the Link to Windows app to run in the background on your Android phone (this keeps the Resume feature working reliably).
- Resume turned on in Mobile Devices settings on your PC. (This tutorial)
- Resume turned on in app settings on your PC.
- Turn on show app icon with a badge notification on taskbar when Resume is available.
- App (ex: Spotify) turned on in your PC Control which apps can use Resume settings.
Here's How:
1 Open Settings (Win+I).
2 Click/tap on Bluetooth & devices on the left side, and click/tap on Mobile devices on the right side. (see screenshot below)
3 Perform an available action below: (see screenshots below)
The Manage devices button will be disabled and grayed out if Allow this PC to access your mobile devices is not turned on.
- Click/tap on the Manage devices button.
- Under Mobile devices, click/tap on the linked phone (ex: "Brink S23+") you want to manage.
4 Turn On (default) or Off Resume for what you want. (see screenshots below)
If you have more than one added mobile device in the "Manage mobile devices" window, expand open the mobile device (ex: "Brink S23+") you want to manage.
5 You can now close the "Manage mobile devices" and Settings windows if you like.
That's it,
Shawn Brink
