This tutorial will show your how to send files to your Windows 11 PC from the Link to Windows app on your Android phone mobile device.

When you pair your Android device to your Windows PC using the Link to Windows app on your Android device and Phone Link on your PC, you can seamlessly transfer (share) content between your PC and mobile devices.

The Link to Windows app version 1.25071.155 or higher on your Android phone includes a refreshed experience for Windows Insiders. This update brings a modernized design, smarter onboarding, and new ways to send files from your Android phone to your PC when connected.

Requirements to try out the new refreshed Link to Windows experience:
  1. Make sure you’re running the latest Windows Insider Preview build on your PC from any Insider Channel.
  2. Have Phone Link version is 1.25062.83.0 or higher installed on PC.
  3. Opt-in to the Link to Windows Beta from the Play Store on Android phone.

Frankly, (imo) it is just easier to do this by simply connecting android to pc using a usb cable.

The android then shows up as a drive in file explorer and you can copy files either way to your heart's content.

You can do something similar to a degree with iphones but not to same extent due to vagaries of iphone's file system as you seem to be limited to certain user folders.

I tend to use the "Apple Devices" app on the iphone but even then it is perhaps a bit clunky. Actually @Brink - a tutorial on how to use the Apple Devices app would be useful. It took me a few goes to work out how to use it effectively even at a basic level - I am sure I could do more if I took the time to learn how to use it to its full capability.

I only have one due to my latest NHS hearing aids only working with Iphone. I could have gone private but that would cost £3k+ for my needs.

One thing that is clunky is file transfer to/from pcs compared with androids.
Of course the concept on Apple and MS cooperating is less likely than finding an honest politician.

Perhaps you could ask to site owner to buy/lend you one as I think some general guidance would be really welcomed?

Backing up mobiles is another potential tutorial topic that could be of interest.

I actually backup my Samsung android phone to pc using Samsung's Smartswitch. It is practically like a pc image backup - I restored a backup recently after screwing up an update (my own fault trying to be too clever) and the backup worked fine. Google has a backup system but not as slick as the Samsung Smartswitch (that would be a good tutorial as many use Samsungs).

The only minor gripe is the backup when created does not remember all your app passwords (some but not all - no idea why that should be). Still, easy enough to get them from Windows built in password manager (assuming you have accessed sites on pc as well). In a few cases, I had to go through "forgotten password" procedures.

You can also backup iphones using the Apple Device app - key issue is it can take a lot of storage on default C drive which you cannot directly change. However, you can use a symlink to point the C drive default folder to another drive. I have yet plucked up courage to do a restore yet.
