It looks like the DWORD in the registry key below is also getting changed in W11. I've updated option 2 to add this below. :)

Hi Shawn
This is an old thread but I have 3 laptops all with W11 25H2 Home build 26200.8894, the oldest 2022 Asus VivoBook plays the Windows Startup sound OK but the newer Acer AI SF14-51T and SFE14-51T don't, I tried all the methods above, but don't get a startup sound, no Fast Startup and all three laptops use Realtek audio drivers/chips. I suspect the new Acer firmware is suppressing that sound?

Hello Frank, :alien:

Could be. You can double check your firmware settings to see if there may be one not allowing audio at boot or startup.

That would be normal for the logon sound. It's been hard disabled since Windows 8.

If you just want to set a custom startup sound thought I'd mention you can easily do it with the Winareo Tweaker app. It works on build 26200.8875. I'll also point out that anytime you change from the default startup sound anytime you run a SFC/ scannow it will flag your custom sound as an error and change it back to the default sound as it's considered a system file. Just an FYI as you'll have to keep changing it back if you like to do SFC scans after your Windows Updates.
