This is my daily driver PC. Fairly new install of Win11 and basically running fine....however I have noticed a few errors in the Event Logs that make me want to identify.

First one is an error showing under System. "The ABBYY.Licensing.FineReaderEngine.Windows.12.0 service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the specified file"

I have seen similar ABBYY error messages before in other systems. I have not used nor installed ABBYY reader on this PC nor any other PC that I recall. So I am wondering if this is possibly a default Windows Registry entry vs something that has been added by other software installs? Or possibly installed by some other default software like Printer or Scanner software?

I can find something listed under the Registry.
Description - This service is required for ABBYY SDK 12 to work.
DisplayName - ABBYY SDK 12 Licensing Service

This image path is odd however: "C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\{BA095921-B201-4D08-8788-1FFE14159DC5}\{444F0367-17BD-4F2C-8CB2-2A58623E11D3}\LicensingService.exe" -service

Unsure why this remains in Temp even though I have cleared Temp Files. Perhaps I need to manually clear this Temp Folder to see what happens. It might get added with each system boot.

If you're not having any issues, most of the time chasing such errors in the Event Log is akin to a snipe hunt. If you don't have the product that uses this licensing module, it's a non-issue.

ABBYY SDK 12 is a 3rd-party library for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) conversion in scanned documents or PDF's.

Have you installed any apps or browser extensions which might include those features?

That's the thing and I mentioned it. I used to have an HP OfficeJet Pro printer but uninstalled that software when I connected a new Brother printer. So whatever drivers might have been installed as part of their software package, including OCR support, could have been installed. Also have an Epson V600 Photo scanner connected with it's appropriate software.
In checking that Temp folder location I do not even see the file listed under Temp anymore. So this much be from an older install that has since been deleted. That is why the error is showing since that Registry entry does not exist anymore. Part of my issue is I wanted to be kinda sure before I deleted the Registry entry entirely thus asking if this might have been some Windows default entry or an entry added from other software installs.

I believe Epson uses ABBYY, while HP I know uses ReadIRIS.
