Hello,

Been having issues with my Ethernet just randomly dropping connection and reconnecting.. not sure what could be causing this and it's been happening for quite some time. I'll post screenshots of what I've seen in event viewer but I'm not sure where else to go with this.. any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Do you have other devices using your network? Do any of them drop connection? If this is the only device on your network it can be router(if you use one), internet service provider problem, or a flaky ethernet adapter in your device..You can eliminate the ethernet adapter being the problem by testing with a usb ethernet adapter ($10-$12 (at Walmart, Amazon, or most any electronics store)

It's possible that your ethernet connectors have been damaged.
Breaking/cracking that little spring-arm on top can cause your symptoms because the spring-arm is what holds the connection firmly in place.

Yeah, you probably need a new cable. :-)

Mine was ON... but I never saw the Ethernet dropping connection.
Mine is Intel I211 Gigabit

I believe that it only affected the 1225/1226 series.

Your problem is a very known issue Intel Ethernet chips, especially I225/I226. Unfortunately, the cause and the best solution are unknown, as not everyone has the same problem and the same solutions do not work for everyone.

Various solutions have been tried: using different versions of the driver, modifying the advanced properties of the device, changing the cable (and even shortening its length), and even changing the router. The latter has led to the belief that the network outages are due to a possible incompatibility between the Ethernet chip and certain routers.

In my case, the solution was more straightforward. Use a different network card, either via USB or via a free PCIexpress slot.

first please try static addressing for your connection
IP address
subnet mask
gateway address
that can be done via settings > network & internet > your connection ethernet/cable

then check the device manager for the network card
right click the properties > power management
and make sure 'let the system put this device to sleep' is unticked/disabled

a restart of the system will be required after changing settings.

The main problem with these connection cuts is that they are actually micro-cuts. These micro-cuts do not affect downloads or browsing the internet. However, if you use a service that requires a very stable connection, such as teleconferencing or online games, you will have problems. I bought a very standard TP-Link network card and all my problems were solved.

If you choose for an additional network card, remember to disable the integrated network card first.

Just to follow up on this,
No matter what settings I changed, I still kept having random micro disconnects and network errors in the Event Log.
So I ended up just buying a network card to put in. TP-Link 2.5GB PCIe Network Card (TX201)
No more disconnects and no more errors in the event log.
