So I finally upgraded to Win11 over the weekend. An upgrade from Win 10 Pro. Local Accounts. Not sure that matters.
On Windows 10 I had no issues.
Since the upgrade the PC is losing network connection all the time. But it then immediately reconnects, like 5-10 sec outage and then it's fine again.
Motherboard has 2 LAN ports, 2.5 realtek, 1 gb intel. I always used the realtek one as I have a 2.5 capable switch connected to my NAS.
- I upgraded realtek LAN driver using newest one from motherboard vendor (asus)
- Changed to the Intel port
- rebooted pc and network devices
- disabled power saving for network adapter
To no avail. Still disconnects are happening.
When I launch the network troubleshooter, it says connection to DHCP server was lost. But I'm not sure that is true. If I connect to VPN, network outages still happen, it looks connected but nothing will load and sometimes the VPN connection then drops entirely. This was running stable on Win 10 as well.
As said I also have a NAS / Ubuntu Server that is running 24/7. It has no network issue. I would know and notice quickly. Neither do any other devices have any problems. my work laptop is also Win 11 and it does not have the issue when working from home.
I did not see anything in Event Viewer.
What I need to add is that my DHCP server is a pihole (rpi3). As said this has been the case for years without issue. But since the error says DHCP connection lost, I guess it's important
What could be causing this? How can i further troubleshoot?
