Event Viewer Error - actual popup that interrupts program startup

Every time I open Event Viewer lately and click on my custom view for Administrative Events, I get the following. Can't fix it, seems like it's been an issue for other Windows users for many years, all the way back to Win 7!?

"Query Error - Microsfot-Windows-USBVideo/Analytic"
"The instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a WMI data provider"

That doesn't tell us much does it. Do you get the same error when you try to view one of the other logs such as Windows logs-Application? Are you noticing anything else that is not working as expected?

You can check if the repository is corrupted by running following command from command prompt as administrator:
winmgmt /verifyrepository .
If it is corrupted the returned result will be “ Repository is inconsistent .” If it comes back as consistent, then repository is not corrupted.

I have never repaired an event log database but I know it's a lengthy and complicated process to do and well over my head. If it shows corruption is present, report back and one of the gurus can tell you what you need to do.
The only advice I know to tell you is try running SFC /SCANNOW from administrative command prompt to see if it finds and repairs ANY corrupted system files and if that doesn't work, do a repair-reinstall of the OS.

You can also clear event viewer and start over with a new event log to see if it still happens. Brink has a good tutorial about the ways to clear the event log HERE. But if there is corruption present, it may not let you do it.

The repository was fine, so I ran the bat file Brink created (thank you for that link) and restarted my PC and so far, so good!
Love this forum - it's been my go-to since Win 10.

It's doing the same thing again.
