Excel Freezes when default printer is a network printer?

I’m working on a nearly blank workbook (a dozen cells of text).

Auto-save is off, and I haven’t even yet saved this new file, as I’m simply using it to calculate something and screen shot it to an owner.

I simply tried to make 2 cells Bold font, and Excel froze for 3 minutes.

As always when it freezes (in this case working in the sheet, but in other cases when trying to open a file), it is trying to connect to a printer (see highlight at bottom left)….

2 things you can try that may or may not make a difference
In excel - options>advanced>print>uncheck include fonts that are stored in printer
In windows settings - Bluetooth and Devices>Printers&Scanners>printer preferences>turn off Let Windows manage my default printer
