Whenever I open a new explorer window, a new tab, or go to save something, the navigation pane on explorer takes around 1-10 seconds to load while there's a green loading bar on the navigation path. I have tried turning off "Show files from Office.com" which seems to have made it load faster sometimes, but it's still really slow.

I've been having this issue since the tabs were added to explorer.

Here's a screenshot to illustrate the issue I'm having. The red box is to show where explorer loads very slowly, the green box is where I see the loading bar which usually gets to around 80% before the navigation pane loads

Update: I had used the guide here to enable the feature when it was still not shipping, so I tried using the same instructions to disable tabs. I successfully removed the tabs in explorer, re-enabled them and now the navigation pane loads much faster. I did have to pin everything to the navigation pane again and probably missed a few folder I used to have there, but it's working much better now (hopefully it continues to work as well as it currently is)

Update 2: It was much faster immediately after re-enabling the tabs, but has reverted to the old, slow, behavior already

Had to make an account and answer since this seems to be the only google result and I hate it when that happens

I fixed this by removing any shortcuts pointing inside WSL from the Quick Access menu.

This seems to match up with OP's situation, because I see a WSL shortcut there. Hope this helps.

I forgot I made a post here so I never updated it.

This is exactly the issue I was having and I was able to fix the issue by removing the pinned WSL folder
