Search works on all client computers to access everybody on the net. Explorer/Windows search does not work when it attempts to search the Windows 11 Pro Desktop. All computers running Agent Ransack, a third party search engine, can access the Win 11 Pro desktop and search for file names or content within the files and provide accurate search results. Windows Explorer search only finds old files created before 2024.

I added a suggested registry addition to a computer and attempted to access the 11 Pro computer without any success.

Patch suggest was: Try to map the network share as a drive since Windows 11 does not search UNC paths (\\PC\Share) anymore via Explorer search. Steps: Open File Explorer Right-click This PC → Map network drive Assign a drive letter (e.g. Z:) Path: …

I have contacted Microsoft and no one I have talked to is able to correct the problem. It must be handled at Level 2, and no one can get me to Level 2 yet.

Because Windows Search struggles with non-indexed network locations, many users use dedicated tools that can scan shares directly:

Everything (voidtools): Fast search tool that can be configured to index network folders via Tools > Options > Indexes > Folders.
Lan Seach Pro Designed specifically for searching across multiple network shares

Google wants users to use more secure apps that use two-factor authentication. If you are unable to use two-factor authentication, you may be able to use an app password. An app password is a 16-digit passcode that you can use to sign in using a specific app. This app password is used IN PLACE OF your email password to sign into Gmail.

To create an app password, follow these steps:
  1. Go to your Google Account security settings.
  2. Click on "App passwords" under "Signing in to Google."
  3. Select the app or device that you want to create an app password for.
  4. Click on "Generate."
  5. Enter this password with your email address to sign in from the less secure email application.

Understand, I think. The weird thing is Windows Explorer Search only finds files created before 2024.. I only noticed it happening after I upgraded to Win 11 in December 2025.
