Any feedback will be helpful. In the attempt to update any programs through winget utilizing Power Shell 7. I get the following message Failed in attempting to update the source: winget. After searching the issue the only way I can resolve this is by utilizing a VPN that will allow me to upgrade Winget as long as I have the VPN on. But when I have the VPN turned off it renders this message "Failed in attempting to update the source: winget".

Bottom line when I type in "winget upgrade" thru powershell I receive this message "Failed in attempting to update the source: winget" when VPN is off.

The only conclusion I have found is having to do with the CDN servers through Microsoft are down.

Does anyone have a solution?

I researched this one for a long time yesterday and it led nowhere.
I am using both the stable and preview version on multiple machines; both return the same error.
As @Fabler2 correctly stated, it still updates what's available.

Well I am thinking it is Microsofts end with their servers. When I run with Hotspot Shield VPN with the VPN on it updated Source Winget. When it is turned off it will not update Winget. Feel free to try it. I have no definite answer as of yet.

winget was working with no error with no VPN prior to receiving this issue. First time this has surfaced since I have been using it for 2 years now.

I think it depends on the location of the server you are connected to as the error does not happen on either of my machines.
Mine goes to 96.16.110.41 - storeedgefd.dsx.mp.microsoft.com in the US.

I know last week everyone was getting the error except if you VPN'ed to Brazil, so God knows.

I suppose that resetting the source (fixing it?) made it see the required data. What ever that means 🤷‍♂️
