File Attributes

Hello. I was wondering if I reset my laptop to its factory settings, will all my files revert back to their original attributes (hidden, read only, etc.)

I'm not 100% clear on what you mean by resetting it back to factory settings. If you talking simply about changing BIOS settings of=r hardware settings, then, no. This will not affect the file attributes of your user files or the Windows OS files themselves.

If you could explain in a little bit more detail what it is precisely that you intend to do to rest to factory settings then I may be able to be more specific.

If by factory reset you mean "Reset this PC" then file attributes are very likely reset except for personal files if you choose to keep them.

When you perform a factory reset, or repair reinstall, all the Windows file ownership and permissions are restored to their defaults. The install components sets those details as part of the deployment. Any files outside of the scope of the factory reset is left alone as it was before.
