File Explorer Search Box Question

Hi, I have a question, I don't know if it's thing that can be fixed, but I thought you guys might know. It's just a small nitpicky thing, but it's annoying me.

Back on Windows 10, in file explorer, ctrl+f goes to the search box and then I could paste the search query and continue, and then ctrl+f'ing again would overwrite the original search query.

Whereas now I've just upgraded to Windows 11 ctrl+f'ing for a second time goes to the end of the search query, so I have to clear the original query first before pasting the next one.

Is there a way to change this back to like it is in Windows 10? I have tried googling but couldn't find anything, but I'm also probably searching for the wrong thing. It's not a huge deal, but it's kind of bugging me.

I tried turning off "storing search history" & "show search highlights" in search settings in the off chance it would help, but it didn't.

(I hope this makes sense)

Hi, Welcome, Maria.

I am not sure if there is a way to go back. I think I would find it just as easy to:

Ctrl + F (Find)
Ctrl + A (Select all)
Ctrl + V (Paste)

Thank you for replying.

I assumed this would be the case, and that's what I've been training myself to do all day. Thought I'd ask here just in case I missed something obvious (which is very likely with me)

Thank you :-)
